As an IT product and service provider, Nanyang Tech's mission is to bridge the gap between people and technology. Founded in 2004 by Mr Oh Kwang Leong, the company has since grown to over 100 employees. With a methodology of delivering quality services before profits, the company constantly focuses on upskilling its team. Nanyang Tech provides IT solutions to Fortune 500 companies, partnering up with the likes of Microsoft, Lenovo, and HP.  

 

 

Emphasis on learning and growing 

With an emphasis on talent development, every employee is encouraged to get equipped with in-demand skill sets that suit their functions. They are given opportunities to join learning and development programmes, such as Microsoft's "Let's Skill Up" Program. These programmes helps maintain high level of employees’ morale, productivity, and competency.  
 

 
 

Gaining a global outlook and broad exposure at work 

During the pre-COVID days, employees would embark on company-sponsored overseas trips for business and leisure purposes. Interns also have the chance to gain broad exposure at work, such as exploring different job functions and working directly with Fortune 500 companies. Mr Oh believes that gaining wide exposure at an early career stage is crucial for young talents' career success. 

 

 

Figuring out where your passion lies 

Nanyang Tech provides platforms for young talents to find what they truly love to do. Mr Oh believes that educational background is not the only indicator of growth potential: instead, they assess candidates holistically by considering hard and soft skill sets. 

 

Safina shared about how she landed a sales role as a Nitec graduate in Infocomm Technology, Cyber, and Network Security. "Coming from a non-business background, I was fortunate to be given this opportunity. It was a fulfilling journey here as it helped me understand the importance of IT products in our daily lives. At the end of this internship, I decided to join them as a salesperson." 

 

Upon completing assignments, interns will have the chance to see the fruits of their labour and be left with a sense of pride. Kenneth, another intern with Nanyang Tech, recalls a memorable experience working with one of their clients. "After servicing the client's laptop, he offered to write me a letter of appreciation, which I did not expect. Leaving customers satisfied by maintaining a personal touch while providing quality service has become my favourite task." 

 

 

Working with a motivated and experienced team 

Being new to the workforce, interns need a team that guides and propels them forward as they progress. For instance, the team smoothened the learning curve for Safina by providing additional guidance and encouraging her to attend relevant courses to strengthen her sales expertise. "The team always motivates each other and provides young talents with enough support. My colleagues are undeniably role models whom I look up to," shared Safina.

Nanyang Tech was awarded the status of Lenovo PC Gold Partner in 2021, and is an HP Amplify™ Impact Program partner with a commitment to sustainability. As the company grows, they are always on the lookout to onboard interns through the Global Ready Talent Programme (GRT)
