Being part of an EdTech startup to build the Netflix for education 

Founded in 2007 by Mr Stanley Han, KooBits is a pre-Series B EdTech startup backed by leading venture capital investors, aiming to democratise quality education for children around the globe. With a dedicated team designing personalised learning experiences, they have over 250,000 monthly active students using their flagship product – KooBits Math.

Maximising potential within young talents 

They provide an engaging and positive employee experience. Managers constantly have 1-to-1 check-in sessions with interns, listening to their career aspirations and exploring exciting projects together.  

Mr Reeve Ng, a video editor intern, enjoys interning here and appreciates the guidance provided by his supervisors. He noticed the improvement in his video production skills after successfully producing five videos with the team in two months.  

"Interning at KooBits is a fruitful experience. I can express my creativity and gain hands-on experience in areas of my greatest interest. My supervisor guides me in areas that I am not familiar with and gives me feedback on the assignments I work on," said Mr Reeve Ng, Video Editor Intern. 

Friendly and fun working environment 

KooBits creates a friendly working environment for every new joiner and helps them to relate to what is happening in their specific environment and individual projects and understand how to apply themselves to the job at hand. They provide interns with sufficient resources from day one and let interns undergo the same onboarding process as full-time employees. Additionally, they organise ice-breaking sessions to ensure team members know one another before taking the journey together.  

"I have made friends with the team since the day I joined. KooBits has a delightful working environment, where interns can feel comfortable working with the team," said Mr Jovan Lian, Video Editor Intern. 

Moreover, the KooBits team organises team bonding events to engage the interns and full -time employees. During the pandemic, company-wide events have moved online, but the team ensures that the fun element is always there. For example, they organised a celebration event during Halloween in 2021; everyone dressed up in costumes and played fun games together over online zoom. 

"It was a   fun and memorable evening at KooBits. The team was separated into groups like 'Family Fortune' and 'Treasure Hunt' and played games together," said Mr Reeve Ng.

Embracing a growth mindset, promoting creativity 

As an innovative startup, the KooBits team understands that having a growth mindset is vital when change is the only constant, and experimentation is the key to success. Interns are encouraged to think “out of the box” and voice their ideas to help other team members see different perspectives. 

Growing the team with young talents 

KooBits aims to continue providing a fun and supporting working environment to cultivate young talents that give the company fresh perspectives. By working closely with SGTech's Global Ready Talent Programme (GRT) team, KooBits has benefitted from an increased talent selection through the programme. As the team looks to grow further, they welcome more interns on board!
